The Green River and Forever Green, Inc. Thanks You!

Forever Green, Inc. is a non-governmental (NGO), nonprofit (501 (c)3) organization.  Its purpose is to enhance the awareness and appreciation of the Upper Green River, Kentucky, by promoting the aesthetic, natural, scientific, and cultural features of the river and its associated communities. Forever Green, Inc.  is organized and operated exclusively for charitable, benevolent, educational, horticultural, recreational, and scientific purposes.

In addition to general activities promoting the upper Green River, specific projects for consideration in 2020 include:

Green River Explorers/Green River Academy or other community learning experiences: One sure way to protect the legacy of the Green River for future generations is to expose the current generation to the river and all its wonders.  Opportunities for students to experience Green River up-close and personal via school field trips continue to decline.  Budget and logistical constraints continue to limit teachers who would like to reinforce classroom lessons by exposing students to the river. In 2018  Forever Green provided financial, scientific and logistical assistance in support of the 1st Campbellsville University Green River Academy which paired local teachers with select high school students for a week of learning about the Green River watershed.  Recently the Covid-19 epidemic brought restrictions that made group field learning experiences virtually impossible.  We would like to resume this program or support other community learning experiences in the future whether they be workshops, concerts, art programs, river cleanups or outdoor summer camps.

2024 Upper Green River Classroom Aquarium and Field Trip GrantsForever Green would like to continue funding the purchase of a large aquarium and supplies for a local classroom so that native Green River fauna can be on display at their school. Our goal is $500 for one classroom.  This year we are also funding Russell County Schools for an environmental education field trip to Mammoth Cave National Park.  If you are interested in one of these grants please contact us via Facebook or rkkessler@campbellsville.edu.
